Videos and Book Information

Reblogged from Soleyn Publishing:

So, we took a long break from posting while finishing up The Book, “My Father! My Father!” by Sam Soleyn. I can hardly believe it, but the books are being printed right now! And, the e-versions are on their way to being posted.

I recently sat down with my dad to discuss the book, and why he believes it is both necessary and timely in the current religious climate.

Video - Parts 3 & 4

Reblogged from Soleyn Publishing:

Sitting down with Sam Soleyn, casually, and asking him to tell a little bit about this book (My Father! My Father!), yields an in-depth four part discussion on post-Reformation era religion; the original intent of God in creating man; culture; and “transcendent imperatives.” If you have ever heard him speak, or listened to the recordings from www.soleyn.com, this was an entirely predictable and enlightening (for me) discussion.

Static Shock

Chew

Invincible

I’m considering picking up the New 52 Justice League also buuuuut we’ll see about that, its not really grabing my attention. Chew I just started reading and I’m sold on it. Invincible I owe big time anyway the past year since falling off after Borders Books dies. I just need the Invincible Returns #1 special and then issue #71 to get me started back on it and collecting. It’s also the cheapest of my collection! Chew is so new and the trades are wonderfully cheap. I stopped at the 3rd volume Just Deserts which ends at issue #15 before starting Flambe at #16. So I can just jump on whenever becasue I’m already caught up more or less, the most recent single issue #21 just came out this month, though technically its #27 but that’s a creative thing that’s got to do with the new story arc haha. Static Shock I’m reading for nostaligia. I’m still not sure this book will stay alive so I’m just going on for the ride. I’m hoping against all hope it survuves but we’ll see. And I’m caught up, only 2 issues so far.

So that’s my buget. I thought about picking up Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man out of curiosity because despite only collecting two trades of the original Ultimate Spider-Man, I loved the new take. And this new-new take sounds interesting, Peter Parker dead and and a Black 13yr old, Miles Morales as the new Spider-Man. But we’ll see, I do admit I’m more interested in that than Justice League.

But I’m satisfied with my plan right here so the end of my months are gonna be enjoyble in the comic book arena ^_^

My Identity Is My Super Power!

This has been on my mind for a while… this concept of identity. I think I’m embracing more and more of mine each day. Honestly I’ve battled ID crisis for a while. But who hasn’t? Thing is I’ve never admitted it to myself; just acted like everything is ok. Its not.

Then this panel came to mind last month, out of nowhere! Funny thing is the fact that I remembered this has to do with embracing who I am inside or part of who I am: a comic book reader.

God is funny. Anyway, since I didn’t grow up reading classic Spider-Man books I never got to know Gwen Stacy from back then. I just know her impact. So boy was I thankful for Ultimate Marvel! I really got to know Gwen for the first time and I really liked this contemporary version of her. This panel is taken from issue #14 I think it was. She’s talking about the big news of mutans and super people becoming and everyday occurance for people in the world (within the comic lol). Her acceptance of the world around her, as scary as it might seem, kinda mirrors how we all feel just about accepting ourselves. Or better yet how I feel sometimes. Anyway read what she had to say it speaks for itself. I know my attitude is changing for the better.

In The Beginning…

Here’s how this works. Right now you can view separate content at the following sites:
http://itsjdsmovies.wordpress.com/
http://itsjdspenandpaper.wordpress.com/
http://itsjdsmusic.wordpress.com/
Why do I have three other separate sites? Because it’s easier to just focus on a topic when I have a home for that topic, that niche. At each niche site you can read my thoughts on movies, music and even read some of my own original works. This site right here will be for just everyday life… or every other day life.

I’m new to Word Press so bear with me. But I am glad to have several others sites so whatever my mind is on that’s the site I’ll be updating the most.

Peace out.
